Social Studies

Philosophy:

The Elizabeth Forward School District’s Elementary Social Studies Team helps students understand people, places, and events—past and present—through engaging lessons and research-based instruction. Our goal is to teach all students how to think clearly, understand different viewpoints, and make informed decisions about the world around them. Students learn by reading, discussing ideas, working together, and exploring connections between history, geography, economics, and civics. In the early grades, they begin building the basic skills needed to understand communities and cultures. As they move into middle and high school, they continue with lessons that deepen their knowledge and challenge them to analyze more complex issues. This prepares them to be thoughtful, informed, and responsible citizens.
